How I do I go about working with you? I take time to listen to what you want as the result, and work hard to achieve your goals.
For example, let's say you want me to take pictures of your kids in your flower garden. I start work on a photography plan, by using some photography tools to pick good times of day to take pictures. Within a few days of the actual photography session, I will arrange a time close to my target time of day, to just come over to see the garden and finish up the plan. This involves looking at the shadows and sunlight in the garden, and looking for interesting flowers and plants for a backdrop, ensuring that the outcome will be as good as I can make it. I also want to meet the kids ahead of time and have a bit of simple fun with them & you, so I'm not a stranger to them when it's time to actually take their pictures. With younger kids, I'll take out the camera and take just a few shots of the kids at this time, so they can see themselves and have a bit of fun taking pictures of them with some silly faces. I'll also make sure I listen to you and try to make sure you are going to be happy.
On the day of the photo session, I will arrive a bit early, and get organized, setting up the tripod, any extra lighting needed, and get started on time With young kids, I know they lose interest very quickly, and they won't like to hold still for long times. So, I break up the session into smaller chunks, so the kids can run around a bit until we need them again. During this time, I take pictures of you, your flowers, trees and other interesting items. I try to get all the shots of the kids in the first couple chunks, so they can go back to just having fun. I try to also just take some candid shots of them playing, so they come off natural.
Even with all this hard work, there are going to be some bad pictures in every shoot, but I carefully go through them to grade all of the photos into three categories "Choice", "Good", "Extra", and eliminate the bad shots. I then spend time with each picture, adjusting the lighting, contrast and color to make sure they bring out the emotion and details that make a great picture. I upload the pictures to a Client Gallery here on the site, so you can go through them and select the ones you want to print or download. I only use professional photography developers so the prints are as perfect as possible.
